✨ Chapter 3: “Division 9 Awakens”

---

INT. DIVISION 9 – MEMORY REACTOR CORE

The lights never turned off in Division 9.
They just shifted—white during interrogations, red during overwrites, blue when someone’s identity was quietly taken.

Inside the core chamber, Steve stood in silence as a technician inserted a glowing glass vial into a neural circuit column. Inside the vial swirled the data-spirit of a former agent—what Division 9 called a “cleaned mind.” What used to be a person.

> "Patch it to the Hive Net,” Steve ordered.
"If Lency uploads again, it will scream."

Behind him, memory algorithms danced across vertical holograms like ancestral spirits bound in code.

---

INT. DIVISION 9 – TRAINING FLOOR

Janelle moved with robotic precision across a padded grid. Her Division 9 uniform clung tightly, her face locked in control. Every movement was measured, perfected.

Above her, analysts watched from glass balconies, evaluating her as if she were software.

> “She’s the cleanest echo in this cycle,” one said.
“She doesn’t question anything.”

If only they knew.

Inside her mind, a second heartbeat pulsed—one that wasn’t loyal. Hidden behind a psychic firewall Kim had taught her to build. She was a ghost hiding in plain sight.

> They taught me to forget, she thought.
But I remember everything.

---

INT. NAIROBI SAFEHOUSE – NIGHT

Lency examined the Root Key under a dismantled desk lamp. It now reacted to her skin—projecting short memory flashes every time she touched it.

In one vision, she saw herself as a child in a place that didn’t exist on any map. A red sand valley. Wind chimes made of bones. A woman’s voice calling her by a name that wasn’t Lency.

> “That’s not a glitch,” Kim said from the monitor. “That’s your original memory.”

Lency stared, breathless.

> “Then who am I?”

---

EXT. CITY SKYPORT – ROOFTOP

Alex stood beneath the blinking signal tower of a Division 9 drone dome. Rain lashed against his coat, his cybernetic eye scanning for emotional residue. He was tracking echoes.

When he closed his eye, he saw her—the shape of Lency in the fog, the way she moved, the way she remembered.

> “I can feel you again,” he whispered. “You’re waking up.”

He turned to a waiting drone pilot.

> “Prepare a MindWipe team. She’s destabilizing.”

---

INT. DIVISION 9 – THE VAULT DOOR

Janelle had never been this deep before.

Past the training floors. Past the memory simulators. To the Vault itself—where Division 9 stored what they didn’t want anyone to know. Truths too raw to erase. Ghosts too strong to destroy.

She walked past frozen tanks with flickering faces. Memory codes danced across them.

Her brother’s face flashed on one.

Then vanished.

She didn’t cry.

But something inside her screamed.

> “Soon,” she whispered. “I’ll find you.”
