SABOTAGE – Book One: The Ghost Protocol (C-6)
✨ Chapter 6: “Code in Her Blood”
---
INT. NAIROBI SAFEHOUSE – NIGHT
The wind howled through the cracks in the ceiling, but Lency didn’t move.
Her fingers hovered over the holographic display, sweat beading on her temple as the Root Key pulsed in the air before her—projecting unreadable glyphs in slow rotation.
> “Your blood is interfering,” Kim’s voice crackled through her earpiece. “It’s syncing too fast.”
Lency blinked, vision swimming.
> “I’m not doing anything,” she whispered. “It’s… reading me.”
The Root Key’s glow intensified, and suddenly—a memory not hers flooded her mind.
---
FLASH VISION:
A dark-skinned girl, no older than 6, screams as scientists place a data collar around her neck.
Her eyes flicker with blue light.
> “Her neural pattern is viable,” someone says. “She’s Echo-Class Alpha.”
A symbol flashes across the lab’s wall:
> DIVISION 9: GHOSTFIRE INITIATIVE.
---
BACK TO PRESENT
Lency gasped, falling to one knee. Blood dripped from her nose.
Her pendant glowed white-hot.
> “That wasn’t mine,” she breathed. “But it was inside me.”
---
INT. KIM’S VAN – SIMULTANEOUSLY
Kim’s fingers danced across the keyboard.
He watched as Lency’s vitals spiked, her EchoSync score reaching levels he hadn’t seen since Project Echo was terminated.
> “She’s not just using the Root Key,” he muttered. “She’s part of it.”
---
INT. DIVISION 9 – INNER OPS HALL
Steve reviewed the live feed from memory channel #117, watching Lency’s vision replay through backdoor monitoring nodes.
> “She’s starting to fragment,” a tech reported.
“The Root Key is no longer stable.”
Steve leaned in.
> “She is the Key now.”
He issued a Level 6 priority command.
> “Trigger the Bloodcode Protocol. If we can’t stop her mind… we’ll shut down her blood.”
---
INT. LENCY’S BODY – NANO SCALE VISUALIZATION
Tiny blue shards of programmable nanocode began to activate deep within her bloodstream—fragments planted in her during her years as an agent. Silent. Dormant. Until now.
Each one carried a command:
> Erase.
Override.
Reprogram.
But the Root Key fought back—its spiral glyphs erupting across her neural pathways, rewriting the code in real time.
Her own blood became a battlefield.
---
INT. SAFEHOUSE – MINUTES LATER
Lency collapsed to the ground, twitching. Her skin flickered like static. Her eyes went blank—then flashed pure white.
Kim shouted into the comm:
> “Lency?! Lency, stay with me—don’t give in—”
A long silence.
Then her voice returned.
> “They tried to shut me down,” she whispered. “But they forgot something.”
> “What?”
She stood, slowly, power humming around her.
> “They built me from pieces they could never understand.”
